Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Buxton vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • To find the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hatteras restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • In the Hatteras area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking the rightrental:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Relax, unwind in beautiful coastal cottage near exquisite Cape Hatteras Seashore has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a specific Hatteras destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
