Strategies for getting the best Frisco vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hatteras area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Waterfront home with ocean views, private pool, hot tub, & Tesla\/EV charger has 7 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
