Tips to get the perfect Frisco rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Soundside, Fire Pit, Screened in Porch, Fenced in Backyard, Charming Beach House has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. message the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
