Make your way to Crab Walk, a well-maintained oceanside home in laid-back Avon just a fast walk to the beach. Crab Walk is located in the sought-after Oceanfront Estates community, where you can take a walk or bicycle ride to the beach access at the end of the street. After a fun-filled day of sun, sand and waves, come home and relax in the comfortably furnished, open-concept great room or get dinner started in the completely outfitted kitchen. The living area leads out to an broad sun deck with plenty of outdoor seating and a picnic table. All three bedrooms are conveniently located together on the mid-level. Bed and bath linens are always supplied at no additional charge, and the beds will be made with fresh sheets and pillowcases prior to your arrival.

Avon is considered by many to be the center of Hatteras Island, home to more businesses than some of the neighboring villages. Despite this, Avon remains a cozy coastal town with the main attraction still being the unspoiled beaches. Crab Walk is located on the northern end of Avon, just past the 11-mile stretch of undeveloped National Seashore that separates it from Salvo. A three-min. drive south will take you to the heart of town, where you'll find the Avon Fishing Pier along with a variety of locally owned stores, surf stores, and dining options.

Finding the best Avon vacation rental experience:

When to visit Avon & When to book:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Avon. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Hatteras restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Crab Walk: Oceanside, Short Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Hatteras attraction you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
