Our top Rental booking tips:
When to reserve a Hatteras rental & When to go:
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Avon. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautifully updated condo with outdoor pool, beach access, AC & washer\/dryer has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
