SOUNDSIDE Buxton — Feel complimentary as a bird when you settle into THE ROOST, a five-bedroom/five- and one-half-bath home with nothing between it and a private sound beach except a lush, forested ridge. While the thicket of trees provides loads of privacy, the shallow waters of the sound offer an abundance of possibilities, a welcome getaway for paddleboarders, wind and kite surfers, and families with kids, alike.
Upon arrival, release the dogs (two are welcome) to sniff things out in the fenced-in yard while you make use of the convenient elevator to move groceries and suitcases to the second level. The ground-level, fish cleaning station with lights and water will be a welcome sight for those who plan to fish. Those looking for a more languid pace will find it in the screened-in tiki bar area with seating, a TV, and a dart board to keep things interesting. You’ll find a private path to the water’s edge and an outdoor shower and foot wash station to keep things tidy when you return. Stairs leading to the first level reveal a 7-person hot tub to soak in the serenity.
Two ensuite master king bedrooms and a bedroom with a full and twin bed with access to a hallway bathroom also occupy the first level. These rooms savor close access to a media room featuring a 75” Intelligent 4K TV, puzzles and games, and a minifridge, stand-alone ice machine, and microwave to keep snacks and drinks at the ready.
The final two bedrooms, both ensuite master kings, are located on the second level and offer private upper deck access to catch the sensational sound sunsets. They also offer instant access to the home’s great room, an open communal space that brings everybody together for precious family time. There’s a impressive living area with comfortable seating providing ideal sight lines to the 75” Intelligent TV. The cavernous and well-equipped kitchen encourages a group cooking effort to bring your vacation meals to the table, a long eight-seat one, with three more at the breakfast bar. Savor dining outside on the deck as well, where a six-seat table accepts you to appreciate the feast in front of you, including the one for your eyes as you gaze out onto the sound. As you do, watch the marsh birds come home to roost and be glad you booked THE ROOST so that you’ll have this memory forever.

How to find the best Buxton rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Soundfront Dog Friendly w\/ Hot Tub, Elevator, Private Sound Access, + Media Room has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Hatteras destination you love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
