Our top Hatteras vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in the Hatteras area. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hatteras restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Hatteras area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the perfect rental home in Frisco:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Expansive home with private pool, hot tub, high-speed WiFi & central AC has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
