Getting the best Avon vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Avon. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions.
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to select the best rental home:
- To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Custom, Waterfront Home w\/ Boat Ramp, Sound Views, Private Hot Tub, Shared Pool has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
