Tortuga is the ideal home in many ways. It has an amazing view of both the ocean and the sound. The home is high and the breeze is magnificent. We like to prepare and it's well outfitted for cooking . It's a great home for families or couples because each bedroom, excluding the bunkroom, has a private bathroom within the bedroom. Tortuga's décor is a tribal boho beach theme. There is always something interesting to look at. It's ideal for a great cup of coffee on a rainy day or a great glass of wine. The furnishings are alluring but comfortable including the beds. We adore repeat guests.

Tricks and tips for getting the best Hatteras vacation property experience:
When to book a Hatteras rental & When to go:
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Rodanthe. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Hatteras area:
- First, have your family select dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Tortuga 4 Masters, Hot Tub, Pool, Game Room has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, email the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
