Outer Banks Beaches and Buxton Woods Coastal Preserve reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Frisco Mini Golf and Go Karts and Buxton Seafood. Get the most from your rental budget:

  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Frisco. To get the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hatteras restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.

  • If there's a certain Hatteras attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
