Tips and Tricks to get the best Buxton vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Planning and choosing your prefectrental:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront, Dog-Friendly House w\/ Shared Pool, Free WiFi, Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
