Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Get the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in Frisco. Book your Hatteras vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking yourrental:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Observation Point: Prime Soundfront Location with Dock! Spectacular Sunsets! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
