Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Hatteras rental & When to go:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hatteras. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Lovely home in oceanfront location with central AC, access to pool\/hot tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
