SOUNDSIDE Avon — Kinnakeet Shores — Are you looking for a beach home on the lake in Kinnakeet Shores with pretty water vistas, space for the family, a fast 5 min. walk to the beach and walking distance to the grocery store, shopping and eateries? Then SKIPPER'S LANDING is for you. Pull into the concrete driveway with two covered carport spots and dry entry from each. The bottom level access leads to a queen master bedroom with private bath and access to the private swimming pool with Tiki bar and bubbly 7 person hot tub. The mid-level is home to four more bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are masters (a king and a queen) with private baths, one is a queen bedroom with semi-private bath and the fourth bedroom has two sets of bunk beds. The washer/dryer is conveniently located on this level. The top level great room is impressive with high, vaulted ceilings, wood floors, roomy kitchen with refreshed appliances and enormous breakfast bar featuring vegetable sink and bar seating for 6, and dining table with sliders to the deck on either side. Gather around the huge flat screen TV and DVD player with streaming NetFlix movies for evening entertainment or step up to the loft area game room with foosball table, lounge seating and flat screen TV/DVD. Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival.   • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
