How to find the best Salvo vacation property experience:
When to book a Hatteras rental & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in Salvo. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Soundfront Home with Hot Tub, Easy Windsports Access, Screened Porch, and Grill has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
