Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Hatteras rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing a perfect Hatteras vacation home:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Dog Friendly - Sound View Home on private harbor. Amazing Sunsets-Fishing-Dock has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
