Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Buxton vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Buxton. To get the best rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Beach Break Cottage- Excellent Ocean Views- Steps to Beach- Community Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Hatteras destination you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
