Sticking to your spending plan:
- Summertime is high season in the Hatteras area. To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.

- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. - Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective.
