Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the perfectrental home:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Shore Break Cottage- Steps to Beach- Incredible Views- Community Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
