Step inside, and you're sure to be surprised by the lavish amenities that await you around every corner. Appreciate an afternoon at the theater without stepping outside in your personal theater room with flat-screen TV and surround sound. For a little friendly family competition, head over to the game room with pool table, foosball table, flat screen TV with surround sound, and full kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave for a beach snack. When it's time for a good nighttime's rest, take your pick of three bedrooms on the second level: one master with two double beds, one king master with handicap friendly bathroom with roll-under sink and roll-in shower, and one with two bunk beds that shares a semi-private bath with the den, which offers a day bed with trundle and LCD TV. All rooms on this level have access to the deck. Head upstairs to the third level great room, where the family gourmand will be right at home in the grandiose kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and double dishwashers. Vacation Rental Protection Plan: This required non-returnable $95 plan covers accidental damage within the home with a coverage limit of $3,000. It does not cover theft or willful misconduct. How to get the best Rodanthe vacation home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.   • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it.
