How to book the best Rodanthe vacation property experience:
When to visit Rodanthe & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Rodanthe. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your group choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. **Pet Friendly** Island Guest House with Pool has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Tips for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
