Our top Hatteras vacation rental tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Frisco. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation home in Frisco:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront dog-friendly home with private hot tub, ocean-view sundecks, AC & W\/D has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If there's a particular Hatteras beach you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
