How to get the best Frisco vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in Frisco. To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront dog-friendly home with private hot tub, ocean-view sundecks, AC & W\/D has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular Hatteras destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
