Booking the best Hatteras vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Hatteras area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Finding the perfect rental home in Frisco:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront dog-friendly home with private hot tub, ocean-view sundecks, AC & W\/D has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Hatteras beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
