SOUNDSIDE Avon - Pheasant Ct. - The location of this comfortable and family-friendly bungalow, located at the peaceful southern end of Avon on a secluded cul-de-sac, offers the best of multiple worlds: less than five mins.’ walk from the beach, a one-min. drive from Ramp 38, entryway to year-round four-wheel-drive beach access beloved by fishermen, and poised at the northern tip of more than six miles of undeveloped National Seashore between Avon and Buxton—ideal for striking beach walking, and home to two world-class water-sport destinations on the soundside: Canadian Hole, a bucket-list location for windsurfers, and Kite Point, an international Mecca for kiteboarders. The bungalow itself, a classic cedar-shake saltbox offers vistas of both the ocean and sound from the cavernous, well-furnished upper and lower decks. The main level, sporting a fresh look this year with freshly laid bamboo floor and a new paint has living/dining area with cathedral ceilings, a queen bedroom, full bath, and a roomy, well-equipped kitchen with pantry closet which opens onto a sizable, screened porch with picnic table and access to the covered lower deck. The upper level has a king and bunk bedroom, a full bath, and access to the huge upper deck; it also features a cozy loft area with double-bed futon/couch and table and chairs for a peaceful reading area, a lively card game, or a fourth sleeping space. Booking the best rental experience:
When to reserve a Hatteras rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Hatteras area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Soundside Cottage Minutes to the Beach w\/ Books, Games, Grill, Screened Porch has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is best for your family.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
