Tricks and tips to get the best Avon vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best vacation home in Avon:
- First, have your group choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Ocean-view house with private pool, hot tub, W\/D, & AC - dog-friendly has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
