How to book the best Salvo vacation rental experience:
When to book a Hatteras rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose and book a perfect Hatteras vacation home:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanfront, Dog Friendly Home with Hot Tub, Easy Access to the Beach, and More! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
