Rental home booking tips:
Finding the best rental home value:
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Huge, canal-front home w\/private hot tub, WiFi, central AC, washer & dryer, dock has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Advice for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
