Finding the best Hatteras rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Hatteras area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Family, Fun and Fishing! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
