Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Frisco. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Windscape Soundfront in Frisco Incredible Views has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Call the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
