Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try changing your family's Hatteras vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Dog-friendly beach house with private hot tub & pool - short walk to ocean has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
