- To get the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection.
