Rental home tips:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the right Hatteras rental:
- First and foremost, have your group select dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Atlantic Dreams OBX Unwind in Our Pet-Friendly Oasis w\/ Mesmerizing Ocean Views! has 4 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. text the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
