Adore the water? Then make the impressive Island Creek Resort your home for a week or a lifetime. This semi-private waterfront resort has 16 island-style homes designed for the active beach life. Set on Avon's pristine north end and accessible only by bridge, Island Creek Resort offers over 1,000 feet of shallow sound-front access. Windsurfers, kite surfers, kayakers, and kids will appreciate this ultra-friendly location, where miles of open Pamlico Sound facilitate launching, fishing, exploring, calming, or just horsing around in the water.

This stilted home features a two-story layout with a raised, first floor featuring a wraparound deck and a common area with a TV and daybed. The second floor serves as the primary living space featuring an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area with vaulted ceilings and strong natural lighting. A second wraparound deck is furnished with Adirondack chairs and an outdoor picnic/dining table. You'll find everything you need for family-style cooking in the full kitchen and ample seating options including a ten-seater banquet dining table, four-person dinette, and an island breakfast counter with four barstools. The primary suite features direct deck access and an en suite bathroom.

The boat ramp and docks handle modest boats and personal watercraft. Acres of manicured sod keep Island Creek Resort looking good and feeling good underfoot. Unwind in ICR's community pool or grab the Coppertone and head across the street to Avon's super beachfront. Spring and fall guests sing ICR's praises for board sports, while families regale in this secret spot for summer getaways. Seasoned travelers even head to ICR for their winter holidays. For parents introducing their families to the world of watersports and experts looking to ideal kiting, windsurfing, and kayaking techniques, this is really a resort for all seasons. At Island Creek Resort, it's always better on the island.
The boat slips are not for overnight use, they are only for loading and unloading.

Rental home booking tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hatteras area. Booking your Hatteras vacation home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Hatteras rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Waterfront home with stunning Sound view, private hot tub, pool - 2 dogs OK has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
