Adore the water? Then make the handsome Island Creek Resort your home for a week or a lifetime. This semi-private waterfront resort has 16 island-style homes designed for the active beach life. Set on Avon's pristine north end and accessible only by bridge, Island Creek Resort offers over 1,000 feet of shallow sound-front access. Windsurfers, kite surfers, kayakers, and kids will adore this ultra-friendly location, where miles of open Pamlico Sound facilitate launching, fishing, exploring, calming, or just horsing around in the water.
This stilted home features a two-story layout with a raised, first floor featuring a wraparound deck and a common area with a TV and daybed. The second floor serves as the primary living space featuring an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area with vaulted ceilings and strong natural lighting. A second wraparound deck is furnished with Adirondack chairs and an outdoor picnic/dining table. You'll find everything you need for family-style cooking in the full kitchen and ample seating options including a ten-seater banquet dining table, four-person dinette, and an island breakfast counter with four barstools. The primary suite features direct deck access and an en suite bathroom. The fireplace is not available for guest use.
The boat ramp and docks handle modest boats and personal watercraft. Acres of manicured sod keep Island Creek Resort looking good and feeling good underfoot. Unwind in ICR's community pool or grab the Coppertone and head across the street to Avon's super beachfront. Spring and fall guests sing ICR's praises for board sports, while families regale in this secret spot for summer getaways. Seasoned travelers even head to ICR for their winter holidays. For parents introducing their families to the world of watersports and experts looking to ideal kiting, windsurfing, and kayaking techniques, this is really a resort for all seasons. At Island Creek Resort, it's always better on the island.
The boat slips are first come first served.

Our top Avon rental home booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Avon. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick the best Hatteras vacation home:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Waterfront home with stunning Sound view, private hot tub, pool - 2 dogs OK has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Hatteras destination you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
