Tips to get the perfect Avon rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Avon. To get the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking your prefect Hatteras rental:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Waterfront, dog-friendly home with private pool, hot tub, pier & beach has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
