SOUNDSIDE Frisco — NC Hwy. 12 — NEW FOR 2023! — EDNA’S GRAY HOME, located by the sound in Frisco, combines the history and beauty of the island. Edna Casey Gray, youngest daughter of Cape Hatteras lighthouse keeper Jim Casey, once regaled many with stories of her youth during the early 1900s on Hatteras Island. Today, on property owned by family descendants, you can catch glimpses of this past while you sit on a cavernous wraparound deck and admire your surroundings.
With a shining remodel complete, guests of this three-bedroom/two- and one-half-bath home can step out of the past and into the present, showcased by broad updates. To name a few, this home has a brand new 3-person hot tub, deck, and kitchen, each of which will be spots ideal for creating lasting memories.
Enter the entryway and discover a bedroom/media room to the right, featuring a double sleeper couch and TV, as well as a desk and office chair for those who need a peaceful spot to work. To the left, is a half-bath and then a master king bedroom with a private bath, walk-in closet, and access to the wrap-around deck.
The place everybody will gravitate to on this level is the two-story great room, along with the adjoining kitchen and dining area. From here it’s simple to access the deck where you won’t be able to resist keeping tabs on nature’s show – from the colors of the sky to the wildlife passing by.
Climb the stairs to a hallway overlooking the great room and find two more bedrooms: a queen and a room with two singles, both sharing a full hallway bath. Drifting off to sleep is no problem; nor is filling your days with all Hatteras Island has to offer. Make your own history at EDNA’S GRAY HOME by booking your stay today.
New for 2023: Home has been extensively refreshed. New additions include a new kitchen, 3-person hot tub, new driveway, new LVP floor, new decking, new master bathroom on the first level, and new media room. New décor throughout. Fresh interior and exterior paint.

Rental booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Frisco. Booking in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing the rightrental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Soundside Home with Hot Tub, Media Room, Grill, Smart TVs, and Stunning Views has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Hatteras attraction you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
