Strategies to get the best Hatteras rental home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Frisco. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hatteras area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation home:

  • First, have your group decide on trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Soundfront Home in Frisco with Hot Tub and Private Dock has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
