SEMI-OCEANFRONT Waves - O'Neal Rd. Appropriately named, this delightful semi-oceanfront home offers unrestricted Atlantic vistas and pristine sunsets.

The first level of the home features an inviting entryway, game room with a vintage pinball machine, classic video cabinet with vintage arcade games, a drink mini-refrigerator and a microwave. Also, on this level is a roomy bedroom with two pyramid bunk beds with a master attached bath. A cabana half bath is conveniently accessible from the pool deck with a private outside shower and a huge gas grille located conveniently close by.

The second level has three sizable bedrooms, a queen master suite with an attached bath and two queen bedrooms that use the hall bath. A huge wrap around shaded deck with ocean vistas and a hammock is accessible from two of the bedrooms or by the second level hallway door.

Upstairs on the third level, is the final master king room with a whirlpool tub in the attached private bath. A private deck is also off of this bedroom. The kitchen is completely equipped for the serious chef in your event and the great room offers an open floor plan. Next to the kitchen, gather the group for a meal at the enormous dining table with clerestory windows that offers ocean vistas. When to go & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in Waves. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Hatteras vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.

  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
