About the Area

Located in Salvo, this vacation home is on the beach. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, while Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site and Museum and Studio 12 are cultural highlights. Rodanthe Pier and Ocean Air Sports are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

• June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hatteras restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
• In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
• Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
• Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
• Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

• Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
• Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
• Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it.
