Tricks and tips to get the optimal Hatteras vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Frisco. Reserve your Hatteras vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting and booking your prefect Hatteras rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Only 4 Minutes From the Lifeguarded Beach and Ramp 49 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
