How to book the best Hatteras rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in Avon. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental home:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Dog-friendly home 5 lots from the beach with crow's nest, ocean view & fast WiFi has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
