Welcome to Rose Cottage, a picture-ideal getaway just steps from the Atlantic in the town of Rodanthe. The semi-oceanfront location offers guests a astounding view and convenient access to the beach, just 100 feet from the home. Thoughtful details and updates throughout combine for a unique blend of modern finishes and classic coastal appeal. Animals are welcome at Rose Cottage, so your fur babies can join you on the dog-friendly beaches of Hatteras Island.
A traditional wrap-around porch on the main level is the ideal place to relax in the shade while admiring the ocean view and appreciating the salty breeze. Inside, the ocean view continues from the roomy great room with plenty of seating and a comfortable electric fireplace. The open-concept layout with sightlines from front to back makes the main level an ideal space for gathering. Prepare meals in the freshly modernized kitchen with stainless steel appliances and charming granite countertops. A sun deck just off the dining area is the ideal place to soak up some Vitamin D. Back inside, LVP and tile floor flow throughout this entire pet-friendly home, ideal for sandy feet and paws returning from the beach. All three bedrooms are located upstairs, including the primary. This king suite is attached to a semi-private bath with walk-in shower. Two queen bedrooms will comfortably accommodate family and friends, who can also utilize the second full bathroom on the main level. Bed and bath linens are always supplied at no additional charge, and the beds will be made with fresh sheets and pillowcases prior to your arrival.
From fishing and crabbing to swimming and surfing, the possibilities for around-the-clock outdoor adventure and memory-making are countless. After a day of fun in the sun, head back to the home for a fast rinse in the outdoor shower before preparing the catch of the day at the fish cleaning station.
The cozy coastal village of Rodanthe is the ideal setting for a laid back, slower-paced vacation while still having amenities and dining options close by. If you need a break from the beach, take a trip back in time at the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Museum. Embrace your inner angler at the Hatteras Island Fishing Pier, or appreciate the other side of the island with a variety of watersport activities in the Pamlico Sound.
Please note that the daily effects of winds, waves, tides and storms have contributed to coastal erosion impacts at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, particularly adjacent to the villages of Rodanthe and Buxton. The effects of erosion in these towns result in dynamic and unpredictable changes to the dune line, which may unexpectedly affect beach access. Guests may need to utilize alternate beach access points during their stay.
Family Pets allowed. No smoking/vaping.

Our top Hatteras rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Hatteras area. To book the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book the perfect Hatteras rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Pet-Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
