Welcome to Rose Cottage, a picture-ideal getaway just steps from the Atlantic in the town of Rodanthe. The semi-oceanfront location offers guests a marvelous view and convenient access to the beach, just 100 feet from the home. Thoughtful details and updates throughout combine for a unique blend of modern finishes and classic coastal appeal. Family Animals are welcome at Rose Cottage, so your fur babies can join you on the dog-friendly beaches of Hatteras Island.
A traditional wrap-around porch on the main level is the ideal place to relax in the shade while admiring the ocean view and appreciating the salty breeze. Inside, the ocean view continues from the roomy great room with plenty of seating and a comfortable electric fireplace. The open-concept layout with sightlines from front to back makes the main level an ideal space for gathering. Prepare meals in the newly refreshed kitchen with stainless steel appliances and pretty granite countertops. A sun deck just off the dining area is the ideal place to soak up some Vitamin D. Back inside, LVP and tile floor flow throughout this entire pet-friendly home, ideal for sandy feet and paws returning from the beach. All three bedrooms are located upstairs, including the primary. This king suite is attached to a semi-private bath with walk-in shower. Two queen bedrooms will comfortably accommodate family and friends, who can also utilize the second full bathroom on the main level. Bed and bath linens are always supplied at no additional charge, and the beds will be made with fresh sheets and pillowcases prior to your arrival.
From fishing and crabbing to swimming and surfing, the possibilities for around-the-clock outdoor adventure and memory-making are countless. After a day of fun in the sun, head back to the home for a fast rinse in the outdoor shower before preparing the catch of the day at the fish cleaning station.
The cozy coastal village of Rodanthe is the ideal setting for a laid back, slower-paced vacation while still having amenities and dining options close by. If you need a break from the beach, take a trip back in time at the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Museum. Embrace your inner angler at the Hatteras Island Fishing Pier, or appreciate the other side of the island with a variety of watersport activities in the Pamlico Sound.
Please note that the daily effects of winds, waves, tides and storms have contributed to coastal erosion impacts at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, particularly adjacent to the villages of Rodanthe and Buxton. The effects of erosion in these towns result in dynamic and unpredictable changes to the dune line, which may unexpectedly affect beach access. Guests may need to utilize alternate beach access points during their stay.
Pets allowed. No smoking/vaping.

How to get the best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Hatteras vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best vacation home in the Hatteras area:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Pet-Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a particular Hatteras attraction you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
