- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Rodanthe. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Hatteras trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the bestvacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Rodanthe condo with community pool! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras vacation rental search.

Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
