How to book the best Rodanthe vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:
- Start by having your group select date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Rodanthe condo with community pool! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
