How to book the best Hatteras rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Rodanthe. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Hatteras vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and pick the perfectvacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Rodanthe condo with community pool! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Hatteras destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
