Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Lovely Canalfront Condo in the Heart of Hatteras Village has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If not, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Hatteras beach you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
