Vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in the Hatteras area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Semi-Soundfront, Dog Friendly w\/ Pool, Hot Tub, Cmty Pool\/Tennis, + Sound Access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Hatteras beach you are crazy about, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
