Welcome! We are currently accepting reservations for 2024 and look forward to hosting your marvelous beach vacation.
Crab Inn is the ideal choice for your next island visit. This north Avon home features elegant ocean vistas, direct beach access, calming porches, a bubbly new hot-tub, and four bedrooms with 2.5 baths. Appreciate comfortable rooms, a supplied kitchen, and an painless walk, bicycle, or drive to all local activities and eateries.
Enter the bungalow on the first floor into a living/sitting room with casual seating, mini refrigerator, and a TV with dvd. The same floor homes three bedrooms. The master has a queen bed, a private full bathroom, TV with dvd, and sliding doors that open onto a enormous porch with hot-tub and seating. A second bedroom with a queen bed, a third bedroom with one twin bed and one twin bunk bed, a full bath with tub and shower, and a laundry area complete the first floor. In addition to the hot-tub, the porch on this floor includes ocean vistas and seating.
The second floor features the huge great room with magnificant ocean vistas. There is comfortable new seating for relaxing, a T.V. with dvd, a dining table for eight, and a full kitchen with counter seating. In addition, a modest bedroom with a queen bed and a separate half bath complete the second floor. Two sets of sliding doors welcome you to the second floor's new porch with its amazing ocean vistas, new lounge seating, picnic table, and the opportunity to dolphin watch.
Crab Inn also features a sizable, enclosed outdoor shower with a changing area and a fish cleaning station under the home. Beach chairs, an umbrella, beach toys, and a sea kayak are on site for your enjoyment. A charcoal grille sits beside the driveway for cooking your catch. Lastly, parking accommodates one car underneath the home and two in the driveway.
Located at the north end of Avon in the Hatteras Colony neighborhood, Crab Inn is within walking/cycling/driving distance to many local amenities and attractions. Avon features an superb cycling trail along Route 12 to make 2-wheel adventures simple. Travelers with 4x4 cars can access beach roads at open roads with purchase of park car permits (at Bodie Island or Hatteras Lighthouse).
Note: Rental week is Saturday to Saturday. Check-in by 4PM. Guests are welcome to park and appreciate the beach while waiting for check-in. Check out is 10AM.
For beach lovers, swimmers, surfers, and shell-seekers: Savor the best beach and tides in OBX with direct beach access.
For Fishers: The island offers a variety of world famed fishing options and we appreciate them all! Owners are happy to provide guests with local tips, info about license needs and tours, and fishing updates upon request. Whether you prefer surf fishing (nearly at your door), pier fishing, head boat or charter fishing ("Wicked Tuna" docks at Oregon Inlet), Hatteras Island offers it all. (See "Distances to Attractions below for access info). All seasons are great fishing seasons!
For the Adventure-Seeker: Guests adore local opportunities to rent kayaks, paddleboards, surfboards, SUPs, and canoes; participate in guided nature and water tours; horse back through the woods to the beach; climb the Hatteras lighthouse; parasail; and daytrip to Ocracoke, Nags Head, and Corova.
For the Family: Fish or site see at the famed Avon Pier. Beyond the beach, take a ferry ride to Ocracoke (new, faster ferry option this year!); sail a kite or two; go mini-golfing (Avon or Frisco); eat ice-cream across the street; attend events at Koru Village (concerts and luaus); run a go-kart (Frisco); craft at local workshops; or check out the new family amusement center in Rodanthe. Consider a memorable daytrip for any interests--owners are happy to offer suggestions. New outdoor waterpark in Powell's Point is about 1 to 1and 1/2 hours from home.
For the Romantics: Light a beachfront fire; take in a concert at Koru Village; relax with a massage; try a sunset cruise; sit on the porch and star gaze.

Policies:
DEPOSIT/PAYMENT: A deposit of 50% of the rental rate is required at the time of booking (guests are welcome to pay in full at time of reservation). The remaining balance must be paid no less than 60 days prior to check-in. Guests that do not pay the remainder balance on time will have reservations canceled and will not be refunded initial deposit. For reservations within 60 days of booking, full payment is required at booking.
60 DAY CANCELLATION POLICY: Deposits are entirely returnable up to 60 days before the start of your reservation. Within 60 days of the start of your reservation, you are responsible for the full cost of the reservation. While we understand that emergencies happen, the reason for the cancellation does not change our refund policy. There are NO weather related refunds. However, if the property is not available for your use, 100% refund guaranteed. If you are concerned that you may not be able to keep your reservation, we recommend travel insurance. Vacation Rental By Owner offers an option, but please look online for the travel insurance best for you.
PRICES: All listed prices are based on a max. 8 person occupancy. Rental week is Saturday to Saturday. Partial weeks are not available.
LINENS: Bed linens are supplied. Bath and beach towels are available by pre-rental.
DAMAGE PROTECTION: Applicable refunds are issued within 14 days of check-out.
AGE REQUIREMENTS: Guests of all ages are welcome at our bungalow. However, the responsible event must be a minimum of 25 years of age. This person must be the one to assume responsibility for the property and staying at the property for the duration of the rental period.
FIREWORKS POLICY: While on vacation, you may see or hear other guests setting off fireworks; however, please note that ALL fireworks are illegal in our (Dare) county. If caught, you will receive a substantial county fine. This is an important law that protects us from home and brush fires that occur effortlessly in the dry weather. Any use of fireworks on Crab Inn property will result in immediate eviction with NO refund.
FAMILY PETS OF ANY KIND ARE NOT ACCEPTED AND WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EVICTION WITHOUT REFUND AND $500 CHARGE FOR CLEANING. WE ARE A PET AND ALLERGEN COMPLIMENTARY PROPERTY!
