Strategies for getting the best Hatteras rental home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Hatteras area. Booking your Hatteras vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Hatteras area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hatteras area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Finding the best vacation rental in the Hatteras area:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Dog-friendly home in ocean-side location w\/private washer\/dryer, WiFi, central AC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is best for your group.
  • If there's an individual Hatteras beach you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
