Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in Avon. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Hatteras vacation home:

  • To start, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Bring Your Cast’N Crew! Canalfront w\/ Hot Tub, Boat Dock, and Windsports Access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
