OCEANVIEW Salvo - Dory Road - Mornings provide the sunrise over the ocean and evenings provide the sunset over the sound. A more calming vacation cannot be found! Just 3 tons from the ocean leaves only a short walk to the beach. Ground level features a carport, fish cleaning station, outdoor shower, charcoal grille, and 7-person hot tub. The first level master bedroom has a king bed and private bath. Additional first level bedrooms have one with a queen bed and one with a single and pyramid bunk. These two bedrooms share a bath. The upper level has a sunny, roomy living room with tons of seating, a dining area seating up to 10 people, kitchen and second master bedroom with a queen bed and bath. Just off the dining area is a screened porch with table and chairs for dining. Decks on both levels provide access to appreciate those amazing vistas. Choose SHIFTING SANDS for your vacation home and experience the best that Hatteras Island has to offer!

New for 2024: This year brings a new bedroom layout. The first-level master bedroom, currently a queen, will now feature a king bed. The bedroom with two singles will be converted to a queen bedroom.
New for 2023: Shifting Sands will have an elevator for guest use. Smoking no longer allowed.

Vacation Rental Protection Plan: This required non-returnable $95 plan covers accidental damage within the home with a coverage limit of $3,000. It does not cover theft or willful misconduct. You must notify Surf or Sound Realty of any damage that occurs during your occupancy or this coverage will be void. Coverage is effective at time of check-in and ends at time of check-out.

Located by the sea, this vacation home is in Spindrift Banks, a neighborhood in Salvo. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Outer Banks Beaches and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Find your perfect rental home:

  • To book the best rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Hatteras restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses.
