Getting the best Frisco vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hatteras area. Booking in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Canal-front & dog-friendly home w\/game room, private washer\/dryer, WiFi, deck has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain Hatteras destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
