How to find the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your Hatteras rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review.
