Strategies for getting the perfect Hatteras rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in Avon. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the perfectrental home:

- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
